{Fave 5 Friday}

This week was insane. In. My. Membrane. But no matter.

But here are the picks of the week:

Look of the Week: It's all about Halloween. So. Here's the magic. Janet Snakehole from our favorite show, Parks and Rec. So. This happened.

Trick or Treat of the Week: Again... it's Halloween. So be healthy but be sure to have a little sweet with it too! We did Caramel Apples. I would post a picture of the masterpiece that is granny apple in caramel and covered in snickers...but it's in my belly. So sorry. But also, not sorry.

Product of the Week: For anyone who has my lack of natural nail art talent...this right here is a life saver. "I Heart Nail Art" by Sally Hansen! So easy to use and the designs you can come up with (or search for on Pinterest) is amazing! Here was my Halloween inspired trial run! Not too shabby!

Eat of the Week: I love me some Mongolian BBQ. So we went to Genghis Grill and this high protein/low carb concoction of mine is something I am so not regretting!

Tune of the Week: Because how could I not? The real queen is back you guys. I've been singing/yelling this on repeat all freaking week!

{Fave 5 Friday}

Look of the Week: Leggings, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. 1. You feel like a hug. 2. You can be so flattering. 3. You're not pants. 4. You can be so stylish. 5. You are suitable for most occasions. So for this week's look I went with my favorite pair, floral, fabulous, and Fabletics. Can't go wrong my friends.

Guilty Pleasure of the Week: I try to introduce mostly healthy options to myself and you guys but...I'm only human. Here's the deal gang, I used to down a Redbull every day. Or a Monster. Or anything that came in an aluminum canister with bubbles and caffeine. So. As of late I have been so good about not relying on Energy Drinks to get me through the day. However on one early morning motorcycle ride, my amazing mother in law asked me if I wanted to try a Rockstar. I've never liked Rockstar. It just wasn't my energy drink. However, this is no ordinary energy drink. This tastes like a creamsicle in a can. You're welcome. Light, refreshing, and so sweet. Rockstar Boom Energy Drink: Whipped Strawberry.

Product of the Week: Back to my Aloette love. This beauty is the Muddy Up mask. And it's a dream. I use this on my whole face about once a week just ten-twenty minutes, and I use it overnight as a spot treatment for acne as needed. I love that you can feel it working. And you can see it too. Powerful stuff right here.

Healthy Snack of the Week: I feel as if I need to redeem myself for the whole energy drink thing. I love snacking. So making sure my snacking choices are healthy makes all the difference. This is the same brand of my favorite "ice cream" but this time it's a different flavor!

Tune of the Week: I had this baby on repeat as I cleaned our apartment. Vacuuming has never been more passionate. Also it's Beyonce.

How To: Become Holly Golightly

This was a throw together DIY costume. I've always been intrigued by Audrey Hepburn's role in Breakfast at Tiffany's and when I realized I'd be going to a Halloween Party sans husband, I figured, "Why not?"

So. Here's how the magic happened.

You will need:

  • Black Dress: any kind will do but preferably one with a high collar and short sleeves!
  • Big Jewelry: Statement earrings, necklace, and bracelet. Also a tiara!
  • Black sunglasses
  • Black gloves
  • Long Cigarette Holder: Got mine at Party City.
  • Black Shoes
Besides the Long Cigarette Holder, and maybe the black gloves, you probably have all these things! Or someone who would let you borrow them;)

What I had to buy was a statement necklace. I went to Charming Charlie to see what they had on clearance. One of the employees fastened two necklaces together to make this baby for me. So stinking awesome!

Hair: I am partial to top buns so this was easy. Tease, spray, and pin as needed. The bigger the better. Add the tiara!
For makeup I just wore a layer of BB Cream, filled in the brows, blush, and a subtle cat eye liner.

Made sure my Trick or Treat bag complemented my outfit. And my resting "B" face...

Found the lovely CC mastermind that created my necklace!

"Never love a wild thing, Mr. Bell."

{Fave 5 Friday}

My goodness. Fall Break has been grand. I could use another week. But I do love teaching so I'm excited to get back to the grind.

Look of the Week: The past two weeks have barely reached over 95 degrees here so it's a wee bit chilly;) We even had rain yesterday! So in celebration of that, I've spent some quality time in leggings, my Johnny Cash sweater, and these lovely Nine West Boots. I bought them last year without trying them on...they didn't fit. But this fall, they do! Victory!

Product of the Week: I jumped on the BB Cream train much too late. I love it. What was I putting on my face before you, BB Cream?! L'Oreal's is a high quality brand that is still financially friendly! I got mine at Ulta Beauty for $10 bucks! Worth every penny.

Healthy Treat of the Week: I'm an Herbal Tea Junkie. I love Celestial, Yogi, Natural Remedies, you name it, I drink it. With the hints of fall around here there's nothing I love more than heating up a cup and cuddling up with Bubba and whatever is on Netflix.

App of the Week: Movie lovers, this ones for you. Get a Fandango App and reserve tickets for movies instantly. No lines, no selling out. Just show up and have a Ticket Taker scan the confirmation code on your phone. Easy Peasy.  Just make sure you show up at the correct theater. The app can't save you from that...

Song of the Week: "Like I Can" is an amazing song. We have Sam Smith to thank for this gem. But when I heard these two duke it out on The Voice I got all the feels. So watch, listen, and love!

Happy Friday everyone!

Guilt Free Mango Sorbet

This is the mother-load.

So good. So sweet. So clean.

  •  4-5 cups Frozen Mango Chunks (slightly thawed)
  • 2 cups Coconut Milk (Almond Milk works too!)
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar (Or Stevia)
  • Blender or Food Processor

And that's it. 3 ingredients.

So what you do:
  • Pour mango chunks into the blender and start pureeing.
  • Pour coconut milk in a bit at a time so that it get mixed in thoroughly. Repeat with the sugar.
  • Blend until "creamy" as in no big chunks left in the mix.

  • Pour into tupperware bowl and freeze for up to 5 hours.
  • Serve cold and ENJOY

***Add a splash of Orange Juice for a citrus kick! Lime Juice would be good too!***

{Fave 5 Friday}

This a Friday only blog. Apparently. Fall Break begins TODAY! I'm so excited to do nothing.

My students have asked what my plans are. And I tell them. I am excited to do a whole lotta nothing. Hang with my fam. Eat food. Work out. Sleep. Read for fun. And not think about school. I want to watch movies. And binge-watch shows on Netflix.
That is my dream.

I feel as if this fall break is more for me than my students. My thoughts, dreams, nightmares, and reality are my job. I keep saying this. I love being a teacher. I never wanted to be one. Or maybe I just didn't know what I wanted.

So after Homecoming and this final week before break, I finally feel able to catch up on other things.
One great thing about teaching at the same school as your husband. Everything. We have been on more dates since school started than in our whole two years of marriage. It's easy to plan dates when you know you're going to grab lunch on the go and watch your Varsity girls play volleyball. Boom. Food and entertainment. It's a date. You're welcome.

Okay enough chit chat. Let's get to the picks of the week!

Look of the Week: Again with my Fabletics addiction. I love this shirt. I wear it to school and dress it up with a skirt and then I slide on my leggings for my dance class. It's versatile. Bold. And black and white. Can't lose.

Product(s) of the Week: I have what I like to call "Virgin Hair." I got highlights once in 8th grade. And lowlights once my sophomore of college. You couldn't even tell. Other than that my hair is untouched. And I love it. Not Your Mother's is my go to for hair products. NYM's Shampoo and Conditioner is a dream come true for my hair. Stronger, longer, healthier, and happier. Plus it smells amazing! I'd also recommend their Dry Shampoo, Beach Wave Spray, and Kinky Moves.

Accessory of the Week: Protect your valuables. I love Aduro shells, cases, and covers. I got mine on Groupon for cheap! This fun Alphabet print cover works perfectly for my laptop and this case and cover for my ipad is a life saver. Every time I drop my phone I cringe and remind myself that this is why I can't have nice things. So take it from me. Get a case. Protect yo things. Hide yo tablets, hide yo laptop, hide yo iphones. Or get a case and show em off.

Read of the Week: I love to laugh and one of my favorite comedians of all time has 2 books that I highly recommend. Jim Gaffigan, also known as the Hot Pocket guy, is the author of Dad is Fat, and Food: A Love Story. It's been a while since a book has made me laugh out loud. Literally lolling over here.

Song of the Week: It's Halloween time. And it's Michael Jackson. Sorry. Not sorry.

Happy Friday! Make it fun!

{Fave 5 Friday}

This week was our school's Homecoming Week so it's been a little crazy to say the least! But I had fun dressing up during the Spirit Days and definitely loved seeing the students' creativity get unleashed on their wardrobe...sometimes a little too unleashed. All in good fun of course.
Friday is a great day. As always here are the favorites for the week!

Look of the Week: I can remember one time I dared to wear a poofy dress to a dance in high school. I never really loved that look. It was a fuchsia tea length dress with a bubble skirt. It swallowed my date's legs in the car. I never really wore another dress like that. Maybe it's nostalgia from my own Homecomings but this week I sported another first. I found this beautiful tulle skirt on sammydress.com for 9 dollars. So I said, "duh." I love it. I wore it on Monday and now I see why so many Pinterest-ers post the poofy tulle skirt look. Good job guys. Peer pressure can be an amazing thing.

Product of the Week: Here's the deal. I love lipstick. I hardly wear it but when I do...I do. Growing up I was in musical after musical and my poor skin took a beating from all the stage make up. My lips are a completely different story. I have some allergy that we've never been able to pinpoint. Some foods or brands of lipstick have been accomplices in some horrific scheme that makes my lips breakout, turn orange, and swell to 2-3 times their size, lasting for as long as 2 weeks. It's painful and embarrassing. I tried everything. Prescription creams, every chap stick brand, lipstick type, and have had a lot of trial and error experiences. I've narrowed my options of lip-color to 3 brands: Aloette, Clinique, and L'Oreal. I love L'Oreal for their variety, lasting pigmentation, and the price ain't bad either. They know what they're doing.

App of the Week: Here's the deal with budgeting. I'm new to it. But I have an app that is saving us from financial ruin. Mint links your bank accounts and debit cards to its secure system. It will categorize your purchases for you so you can see how much you spend on certain things. You can give yourself a limit on how much you want to spend and it will track how close you get to your budgeting goals. I set up alerts so that I get notifications of high spending or suspicious activity. It's automatic and so helpful. I highly recommend it.

Healthy Treat of the Week: As an avid nut butter fan, I simply had to try Jif Whips. What a delight. Light, fluffy, and so flavorful. They have a lot of flavors but this salted caramel has my heart!

Music of the Week: This song has been my happy place all week. It's on repeat for most of my commutes to work, and I love finishing my workouts to it! Enjoy!

Happy Friday Folks! Make it great!
