{Fave 5 Friday}

I hope everyone had a happy and food-ful Thanksgiving. It's been a wonderful week here! I love a good break where I get to spend time with my favorite people. And talk to my favorite people that I didn't get to see.

Here are the picks of the week!

Look of the Week: Check out this couple of plaid cuties. Plaid and Flannel and Denim for Days

App of the Week: If you don't have the Etsy app, you're probably richer than I am. This baby has come in handy for this holiday season. Great gift ideas and so many items to choose from!

Healthy Snack of the Week: Perfect Bars! The name says it all. I love the Cranberry one. And Carob Chip ain't half bad either.

Product of the Week: Hair styling tools can be majorly useful. But also, majorly expensive. I found this amazing deal on Groupon for four interchangeable wands, and a flat iron for $30. Talk about worth it!

Tune of the Week: Still not over it. Love this whole album!

{Fave 5 Friday}

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I love this feeling of gratitude that's all around. We are pretty lucky to be so close to family so that we can all be together during this holiday season!

Here are some picks of the week!

Look of the week: I love polka dots. I don't nearly wear them enough. I should try color blocking with this skirt but for today, I'm a class act in black and white. Top from Forever 21 and skirt is from Agnes and Dora!

Accessory of the Week: I like earrings. I'm not huge on necklaces and bracelets on the daily but I do enjoy wearing earrings. These pretties are from Charming Charlie. I purchased them during their huge sale (everything was buy one get one free).

Healthy Treat of the Week: I do love me some Quest Bars! Here is my preferred flavor: White Chocolate Raspberry!

App of the Week: I'm very excited about this one! I love Kayla Itsines' workout program (Bikini Body Guides) and the fact that it's an APP now is huge news! She's made it so much cheaper and so much more accessible! It's available as an IOS app. The android app is under construction;)

Tune of the Week: Can't stop listening.

{Fave 5 Friday}

I'm happy to let you know that my students are killing it in the show. I am so proud of all the hard work they've put into this production! One happy teacher right here.

Look of the Week: Was my gray sweats ensemble. That's my favorite. Pictures are unnecessary because...blackmail.

Product of the Week: My face has been so taken advantage of. Late nights, sick days, weird weather, tech week stress, etc. have all done a number on my poor skin. Aloette to the rescue once again! Aloeclear has three steps, cleanser, toner, and acne spot treatment. Besides getting rid of acne, I've noticed a decrease in scarring, uneven skin tone, and my pores are smaller. I live by this brand.

Healthy Treat of the Week: Meals don't have to be complicated to be healthy and delicious. Last night's leftovers are today's lunch: Turkey patty seasoned with pepper and onions, with tomato slices wrapped in lettuce. Simple and satisfying!

App of the Week: I'm all about rewards points. If someone wants to give me money when I spend money, so be it. I love having Ulta Beauty Stores so close and their app lets me keep track of points that I have. I get notifications of my favorite items going on sale. So it's all good!

Tune of the Week: Stolen Dance by Last Chance. Perfect for chillin'.

{Fave 5 Friday}

More like Fri-YAY! Am I right?

This week was much less crazy, but don't worry...my students' fall play is next weekend!!! So bring it on tech week.

Meanwhile, here are the picks of this beautiful and (a wee bit chilly) week!

Looks of the Week: Bold Aztec print and a pretty coral petal skirt? Sign me up! The skirt is from Nordstrom Rack and the top is from Ross!

Healthy Treat of the Week: Shameless plug for this amazing apple crisp recipe I posted the other day! You can find it here! You will not be sorry! Gluten and Dairy Free!

App of the Week: I'm all about trying new things. Except I like trying new things at home when no one else can see me in case I mess up! So when it comes to Yoga...I definitely will not be the one to willingly go to a class. For a few reasons. If I go, I go with friends. And I can't take it seriously because all I can think about is look at me and my friends flailing like a bunch of idiots. So yoga studios are totally not my scene. But. I think it helps. I like the meditative perspective that it brings into workouts. Especially later at night. It is so hard for me to go to the gym at the end of the day because I get waayyyy too worked up. Yoga is a great way to stretch and relax and strengthen yourself before going night night. Fitstar Yoga is a great app with full Yoga sessions that you can play on your phone or tablet. I have the free version. It gives me a session a week. If you want to pay monies it gives you more sessions. I love that it asks for feedback on pose difficulty so that it can specify workouts to you and your flexibility!

Product of the Week: Ladies, your eyes and your wallets will love me for this one. I love a good liquid eyeliner. One that doesn't smudge, takes forever to dry, is hard to apply, and doesn't last the day. I have found my favorite liquid liner. And it. is. CHEAP! E.L.F. (eyes lips and face) is an amazing company for make up dupes. This lovely waterproof eyeliner pen is $2. 2. Whole. Dollars. I love it.

Tune of the Week: I loved the new James Bond movie! And in true 007 fashion, here is Sam Smith singing the theme for Spectre!

Apple Crisp

This is another dairy and gluten free recipe (unless served with a scoop (or 2) of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream)! Who knew that healthy (ish) could taste so dang good?!

This Apple Crisp is amaze-balls. You can make it all within 45 minutes or chill the apple mixture and crumb topping mixture overnight. I prefer the latter because the apples absorb all that cinnamon-ey goodness.

Prep time: 5-10 minutes
Bake time: 30-35 minutes

Makes 12 servings

For the crumb topping you will need:
  • 1 cup of coconut flour: I love coconut flour for it's natural sweetness. Perfect for desserts!
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • dash of salt
  • 2/3 cup of coconut oil (ghee would work too!)
For the Apple Filling:
  • 6-7 Large Apples: peeled and sliced thin. (I used Honey Crisp, but you could use Gala, Granny, whatever you like)
  • 6 Tbsp coconut oil melted
  • 4 Tbsp coconut flour
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 6 Tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • dash of salt
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Peel and thinly slice apples and place in pan, or pie tin.
  • In a medium size bowl combine all the crumb topping ingredients and mix with a whisk or fork (or pastry blender) until it looks like small crumbs. Seal and refrigerate while preparing your filling.
  • In a medium sized bowl combine melted oil and coconut flour until well blended. Add lemon juice, milk, and vanilla. Stir well. Stir in dry ingredients. Pour this mixture over apples, coating it thoroughly. Press apple filling into an even layer and sprinkle crumb topping evenly over filling.

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until top is set (and golden brown). Allow at least 10-15 minutes to cool and serve!

Enjoy it and go back for seconds!!!
